SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) is a vast European project designed to improve air traffic management by multiple means. Inside this project the workpackage 12.2.2 will demonstrate through in-situ assessment the multiple benefits expected from mitigating the remaining technical risks, and developing a new standard for real-time wake vortex sensing, prediction, and alert, meeting the major objectives of SESAR. As part of this objective, Météo-France, is in charge of the design, development, implementation and assessment of a Meteorological High-Resolution Prediction System (MHRPS) providing wake vortex models with relevant meteorological information. This work will be achieved using already existing AROME 3Dvar system, a high resolution model (current resolution is 2.5km) with 3dvar observation analysis capacities. This new system will comprise a 3dvar analysis followed by a forecast at 500m resolution.
The main task to be done will be :
- Elaborate the MHRPS configuration based on the existing AROME 3D
- Adapting the assimilation system for being able to use specific observation such as wind profiler or radar observations.
- Realize near real-time simulations the different experiments periods.
The deadline for application is 20 March 2011
